2010 Our 2 Month Accommodations in Beijing, China

During our first week in Beijing we toured neighborhoods and must have looked at 15 apartments that Dimitri had identified in his Internet searches. There was one that stood out from all of the others in price, location and amenities. It was the in the Tower Apartments of the Oriental Plaza, right off of Tiananmen Square. We had white-gloved doormen, the use of the fitness, pool and spa area of the Grand Hyatt in the same complex, twice-weekly maid service, all of the mod-cons (like a washer/dryer) and a spacious one-bedroom, one-bath apartment, with good storage. All of this cost us US$64 a day for our 2 1/2 month stay.

We loved the location of our Beijing apartment. We took buses and the subway everywhere. And we walked too! We found good restaurants in our neighborhood, or short bus rides away.

We used the fitness center and the Jacuzzi at the Grand Hyatt three times a week and got into good shape for skiing.

After sweating in the gym at the Grand Hyatt, we used the steam, sauna, and Jacuzzi.

We ate breakfast at our apartment in Beijing but most days at lunch and dinner out. We published a book of our Beijing eating experiences. It is called Eating Beijing and you can click here to see the book.

We had a wonderful stay in Beijing.
