2023-2024 Our Sixteenth Season Skiing Vail, and our Twenty-Fourth Season Skiing Somewhere in the World

Dimitri tested his new knee when we skied November 10th, the opening day of the 2023-24 season He was HAPPY! When we returned from our Malaysian Festive Season Sojourn in January, we enjoyed the snow that finally arrived in gobs. Of course, we had doctors appointments on the days that Vail got 11 inches of snow. We enjoyed Vail when we skied and it wasn't crowded.

Our February-March getaway, when the crowds for President's Day/Spring Break take over Vail, was to ski on Hokkaido Island in Japan. At the 43rd parallel, we would be skiing up near Vladivostok which seemed to be very far north. But, in 2023, we skied Whitefish, Montana which is at the 48th parallel. And, there was not enough snow at Whitefish! We discovered in 2024 that at the 43rd parallel didn't have enough snow either. There certainly wasn't the legendary Japow--Japanese powder.
