After Salta, we drove 153 km on Ruta 9, a beautiful, winding one-lane road to Purmamarca in Jujuy Province. We had no tolls or roadblocks but it was a slow road and it took about 2 1/2 hours.
Purmamarca is a tiny place with exquisite views of muli-colored mountains (actually 7-colored). We stayed at Casa de Adobe in a 2 bedroom cabana with a kitchen and living room (but no Internet) for AP$350 per day.
