The description of what we did and where we ate will come when I have time to write about that. We stayed at Flats Cambará Av. Getúlio Vargas 1366, Centro, (CEP 95480-000), Canbará do Sul, RS (Rio Grande do Sul in the Serra Gaúcha) web: http://www.flatcambara.com.br/ We payed the regular per day rate of R$158/ $95.18 for apt. 803 (including everything). The people were wonderful, we had internet connectivity and the apartment was very comfortable.
We looked at Estalagem da Colina (www.estalagemdacolina.com.br) and the standard rooms were too small. The 2 bedroom chalet would have worked but was too expensive at R$275/US$165.66. And they wouldn't discount. We also stopped at Parador Casa da Montanha (www.paradorcasadamontanha.com.br) and the tents were small but okay. The setting was remote--too remote and the price including meals of R$2474/US$1490.36 for 3 nights (without excursions) was too expensive.
